Jane Fonda, the 42nd AFI Life Achievement Award honoree, spoke to Fellows in April at a Harold Lloyd Master Seminar moderated by AFI President Emerita Jean Picker Firstenberg. Here, Fonda describes the epiphany that led to her hit comedy 9 TO 5 (1980) and the unconventional, yet essential, meeting with Cleveland secretaries that inspired her director and screenwriter Colin Higgins.
